For starters, there’s a node-based story mode where you tackle a series of matches and puzzle-like challenges while eventually working your way to an ending after making a few decisions via branching paths. Thankfully, Magical Drop VI includes a wealth of modes that are great fun to sink your teeth into. Specifically, I found the original games to reward thinking ahead while eventually performing massive chains but when using that strategy here, I often failed. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however, as you simply need to adopt a slightly different strategy if you want to claim victory over the rather brutal CPU-controlled characters. Now, although Magical Drop VI retains the gameplay of the original games quite well, I found it to be rather unbalanced with its mechanics. 😊 15 playable characters each with their own unique story and music tracks of Magical Drop VI. Anyway, it’s wonderful to see these characters back again and they really pop so fans like me will certainly be pleased. The dialogue scenes are lighthearted and mildly entertaining and the in-game visuals feature very bouncy artwork, especially for the character simply known as The World if you know what I mean. The Magical Drop series has always featured a large cast of delightful characters and Magical Drop VI is no different as you’ll come across all sorts of goofballs that are modeled after tarot cards throughout your adventure.
